Speakers

Federico Fracassi

Dr. Fracassi graduated “cum laude” with a degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Bologna, Italy. In 2005, he defended his Ph.D. thesis and subsequently completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He became an ECVIM-CA Diplomate in Internal Medicine in 2012. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Internal Medicine at the University of Bologna.

Dr. Fracassi’s primary research focus is small animal endocrinology. He is the director of the international II-level Master’s program in “Canine and Feline Endocrinology” and organizes the ESVE Summer School in Bologna every two years. His publication record includes over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 14 book chapters.

He serves as the editor of Veterinaria, a peer-reviewed journal, and as an associate editor of the Journal of Small Animal Practice. In 2017, he co-edited Feline Endocrinology (translated into six languages) with Dr. Feldman and Dr. Peterson. In 2022, he edited Diagnostic and Therapeutic Algorithms in Internal Medicine for Dogs and Cats (translated into seven languages), and in 2024, he co-edited Canine Endocrinology with Dr. Sara Galac. Dr. Fracassi has lectured in 24 countries.

Miguel Campos

Miguel Campos was born in Lisbon in 1981. He studied at the University of Lisbon, obtaining his degree of Doctor in Veterinary Medicine with distinction in 2005. He then performed a one-year rotating internship at the Frégis Veterinary Hospital Center in France.

From 2006 to 2010 he did his residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Ghent, becoming an ECVIM-CA diplomate (specialty Internal Medicine) in 2010. Continuing the research initiated during his residency at the University of Ghent, he did a PhD on “Pathogenesis and treatment of canine thyroid tumours”. After his PhD, Miguel lectured for 2 years at the Alfort Veterinary School in Paris and then worked as a clinical instructor and lecturer at the University of Bern between 2016 and 2022.

Miguel is currently head of the Internal Medicine service at the AniCura Medical Center for Animals in Amsterdam and his main research focus remains endocrinology and thyroid disease in particular.
